Crow Valley Pottery’s Annual Potters’ Fest will run from July 16 through August 1 at both the Eastsound gallery and “The Cabin” on Orcas Road, according to proprietors Jeffri Coleman and Michael Rivkin.

There will be an opening reception Friday, July 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at “The Cabin”, with music by Carolyn Cruso and treats.

“Talk about a transition! The Potter’s Fest has quite simply outgrown the confines of “The Cabin” at Crow Valley Pottery,” said Rivkin. “So the ‘keystone’ of the venerable island gallery’s Summer Show Series expands to bring even more potters and more styles of work to Orcas Island.”

He said this year’s Potter’s Festival includes well over 40 potters, many new to Crow Valley.

“The ceramics presented this year will offer a broad mix—incredibly creative sculptural pottery and popular functional wares too. We have been reaching out to potters all over the country, and Canada too, and can say for sure that the Potter’s Fest momentum has created a show that potters want to show their work in, making for an important, extensive and truly fun ‘Orcas Island’ venue,” said Rivkin.

He said the fest will showcase Crow Valley favorites including Sharon and Mike Douglas with their signature starfish and Marina Series pottery, and Robin Rodenberger with her hand-carved leaf patterns. As in past shows, Rodenberger will provide pottery demonstrations throughout the weekend.
