Opening the Emmanuel Brown Bag concert series at noon on Wednesday, July 11, will be Almost Classical.
The concert is held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Eastsound, and entrance is by donation.
This popular summer concert season features island musicians who share their talents each year to fund the Virgil Cleveland Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship provides the opportunity for promising music students from Orcas Island to attend music camp in Bellingham.
Almost Classical is a trio of young ladies from Orcas Island who love making music together.
With Lisa Carter on Celtic harp or piano and Emy Carter and Paris Wilson on violin, this group has performed for six years and released two full-length albums.
While each performer is classically trained, they bring a unique twist to their concerts by creating their own improvisational arrangements of classic pop-roc, like Journey and the Beatles, to today’s popular artists.
Lisa and Emy are entering their senior year at the Biola Music Conservatory in Los Angeles this fall. Wilson will be a senior at Orcas Island High School.
Each has received top ratings at Northwest Washington music contests, both as a group and as individual soloists.
