Airhawks scholarship student receives his wings

Late this summer, Diego Garcia, who just graduated from the Orcas Christian School, flew the Airhawks Flying Club aircraft to Bellingham for his Private Pilot check flight and oral exam with an FAA Examiner.

“I felt confident in my flying skill,” stated Garcia, “but nervous about the oral exam. You don’t know what to expect since there are literally 1000 questions that could be asked.”

Garcia passed with flying colors and is the 23rd successful Airhawks Scholarship Recipient to receive their Private Pilot’s License.

Airhawks Flying Club (Airhawks.org) encourages interested students to pursue aviation as a career or for business or recreation. Students, aged 16-18, can apply for a scholarship, presently at $4000.

Garcia will continue his passion for flying at Walla Walla University where he is enrolled in their flight training program.
