Thanks to Olga Daze supporters

It takes a village to raise a child, and a community to have a special day enjoyed by everyone. Olga Daze has been a part of

Orcas Island life for some 17 years since Olga residents, Irene Barfoot O’Neill and her sister, Fran Barfoot MacMillan, came up with the idea for this fund raising affair featuring music, food, parade, yard sale, silent auction, history and everything else that could be crowded in for fun.

Orcas Daze 2010 was the best yet. With over 100 people participating as volunteers, or as business donors of wonderful services and items, or as artists sharing your work, we want you all to know how much we appreciated your tremendous generosity of time, talents and goods.

We can’t list you all, so this year we will name only the chairmen who made the day go so smoothly: Jenny Welch, Food Pavilion; George Post and Maria Papademetriou, Barn Sale; Jackie Kempfer, Silent Auction; Betty Marcum, Maker of the Quilt and Bake Sale; Carl Burger, Music, and Parade with Sandy Taylor; Jane Barfoot Hodde, History Table; Lynn Emmes, Treasurer; and Paul Groeninger, clean up.

Our project of remodeling the nearly 100 year old Energetic Club, now our community center, will take place this year. Thank you to everyone

who came and had fun with us and helped us raise the funds for the remodel. “God Willing, and the Creek Don’t Rise” we’ll do it again next year.
