Thanks for Orcas Historical Day Fair | Letter

We’ve had back-to-back major events since July 2, the day of the Parade and Historical Day Fair, so we have been tardy in putting out this letter of thanks to all who participated to make that day extra special.

We’ve had back-to-back major events since July 2, the day of the Parade and Historical Day Fair, so we have been tardy in putting out this letter of thanks to all who participated to make that day extra special.

A very big thanks to Denise Wilk, Don Seaman, George Garrels, Bill Buchan, Ron Montgomery, and James Lobdell for all kinds of help with the fair set up, manning the OIHM booth, and preparing the bison for his parade appearance, and, of course, to Jane Barfoot-Hodde and her henchmen for bringing up the rear on our parade entry.

Mostly we’d like to thank Leslie Seaman and Dixie Walmsley for doing an excellent job of coordinating our annual Pie Booth, rounding up more than 75 good cooks (thank you – you know who you are!) to bake pies and other goodies, and managing the booth itself with the help of these much-needed and much-appreciated volunteers: special thanks to Jean Soderquist, Nancy Schmidt, Mindy Kayl, Terrel Kaplan, Bronwen Jones, Sara Jane Johnson, Barbara Jamieson, Karin Furhing, Enid Blanc and Margaret Alic for that effort.

The Pie Booth did well as a fundraiser and had enough left over to feed the talented members of Orcas Horns, and donate some to the Food Bank as well. Orcas Horns kept the Village Green hopping with high energy and danceable music while the fine weather was enjoyed by all.

Lastly, we’d like to thank our loyal booth vendors who return each year, and the new ones who brought their talents and wares – with industrious kids like Kyle Zbornik making bicycle-powered fruit smoothies, how could we go wrong? Many, many thanks to one and all … see you next year!
