Thank you to the Lions Club | Letter

The Orcas Community Resource Center extends a big thank you to the Orcas Island Lions Club for their recent donation of $2,000 in support of utility assistance for islanders in need. Their generosity makes it possible for some of the most vulnerable in our community to stay warm throughout the winter months. OCRC is grateful for their community partnership.

Their motto is “We Serve” and it shows through their incredible service to our community. Their mobility equipment program is one part of their valuable contributions. This program provides items such as canes, walkers, and wheelchairs available for no-cost use through the Orcas Island Senior Center.

The Lions Club also has an event tent rental program that gives back to the local community. Tables, chairs, tablecloths and lights are available to rent as well. A major portion of the funds raised go right back into the Orcas Island community via donations and service projects.

You, a friend or a family member might have recently received a festive bag of goodies through their Christmas Basket program. The holidays can be lonely for homebound or elderly folks. The Lions brightened days with a warm smile and a bag of fruit, cookies and other treats delivered to doorsteps all over the island this week.

The Orcas Island Lions work together to be the difference in our community. To learn more about Lions Club programs, become a member or make a donation — visit www.orcaslions.org.
