I was shocked to read recently that “15 states attorneys general agreed to drop their claims against the Sackler family, the now-disgraced owners of Purdue Pharma, in exchange for a $4.5 billion settlement. Between 1999 and 2019, opioids killed 500,000 Americans. Yet at a press conference announcing the settlement attorneys general from New York, Massachusetts and Minnesota noted they were unable to secure a public apology or an admission of culpability. In other words, the Sacklers don’t even have to say they’re sorry.”

But what upsets me even more is that this out-of-court settlement does absolutely nothing to shed any light on what these corporations actually did.

Fortunately, Bob Ferguson, our attorney general here in Washington, will NOT settle out of court (allowing the big drug pushers to just write it off as a cost of doing business). He’s going to trial!

Hopefully, this will shine a bright light on what happened and expose truth! Way to go Bob!
