Subcommittees not ‘open meetings’ | Letter

I think it would help rational discourse about the council and its actions if claims about breaking the law are checked for accuracy before being disseminated

I think it would help rational discourse about the council and its actions if claims about breaking the law are checked for accuracy before being disseminated.

In his letter about cell phone towers, Steven Ludwig appears to be referring to a council subcommittee meeting (he says it had only three members in attendance; four are required for a quorum and a vote).

If that is so, the meeting he discusses was not subject to the Open Meetings law.  Neither are any of the meetings of the other regular subcommittees of the council.

I look forward to the subcommittee’s report to council, and hope that it leads to changes in the proposed rule that allow us to finally get cell coverage for our island.
