Response to school shooting | Letter

Dear students, families, staff and community,

Today, our deepest sympathies are with those in Texas who suffered an unthinkable act of violence yesterday. Please be reassured that the safety and security of our students and staff are always at the forefront of our decisions and actions here at OISD. We as a district actively practice, review, and evaluate our emergency procedures including participation in threat assessment training. That said, one of the most effective actions we can all exercise is to be visible and report suspicious behaviors and/or individuals.

The events of yesterday can be a difficult topic to discuss with children. If this topic should come up in your home or you would appreciate resources to help you speak with your children about tragic events in the news, we invite you to explore the resources below:
