I wonder how many of us appreciate (or even know about) the emergency medical technicians (EMTs) that watch over us islanders day and night … every day and night … all year long?
Several mornings ago, I became quickly aware of the benefits of having guardian angels living right next door to me. A timely 911 call, and only minutes later, a team of miracle workers appeared. They instantly recognized and treated my symptoms, and in another few minutes, sent me flying off to St. Joseph’s.
After a few days of poking, prodding, testing, funny haircuts and a little surgery, it has been made very clear to me … were it not for those angels’ timely actions, I would now be blind in both eyes … rather than just the one. Until now, I’ve never thought what it might be like to have sight in only one eye. I can now say firsthand … it’s fantastic!!
Bless you, Bob, Maria, Amie, John, Billy and so very many more angels along the way.
P.S. Maria, I’m pretty sure the peck on my forehead sendoff is what really saved my bacon.
