Postmaster’s report — 2023 Holiday Readiness | Letter

It’s an honor to serve Eastsound as your new Postmaster. The Post Office has an important role connecting neighbors and communities to the nation. Post Offices are also a lifeline for small businesses to reach customers.

I’m proud to announce we are fully committed to a seamless and joyous experience for our customers for the holidays. Our ongoing efforts to enhance service has resulted in several significant updates for holiday 2023:

No Holiday Surcharges — No surcharges or additional fees for customers for holiday packages/mail, residential area delivery, Saturday delivery or minimum volumes. USPS remains the most affordable way to mail and ship this holiday season.

348 New Package Sorting Machines — Since early 2021, USPS has installed 348 new package processing machines nationwide and expanded daily package processing capacity to an industry-leading 70 million packages. It’s part of the $40 billion investment in new technology and facilities under our Delivering for America plan.

Hiring 10,000 Seasonal Employees — Stabilizing our workforce has been a top priority since 2021. We’ve converted more than 150,000 pre-career workers to career positions since October 2020. It’s anticipated USPS will only need additional 10,000 seasonal employees this year.

I encourage you to visit the Eastsound Post Office during the holiday season. We offer a range of services, including packaging materials and affordable shipping options to make your holidays hassle-free.

We look forward to serving you and being a part of your holiday season!
