What a year it’s been here on Orcas. A stubborn winter and a sluggish economy combine to make one long for summer more than ever! And with summer comes: mayoral elections! And so it is time once again for Children’s House and your support!

Now, I can’t really publically support any one candidate – but what I can do is offer a few words of wisdom, based on my many years of public service, political life and retail sector experience.

• Do not post pictures of yourself in your “birthday suit” on Facebook or any other internet site.

• Leave the hotel housekeepers alone.

• Married usually refers to “one’.”

• Cats really are okay.

• There’s not much that can’t be fixed with a green tennis ball.

Finally, our Orcas community is among the most special places anywhere.  And of course a big part of that is because of groups like Children’s House. The support they provide to children and their families is priceless to them, and important to the community. So no matter which of the esteemed candidates you vote for, remember that your every vote DOES count – so vote early, and vote often!
