‘Double your donation’ challenge for Lopez Swim Center | Letter

Friends of Lopez Island Pool is thrilled to announce that local residents Christine Kerlin and Tim Madison have set up a challenge: They will match all donations received between now and April 15, up to a total of $35,000, in support of constructing a community Swim Center here on Lopez.

FLIP’s goal is to turn that $35,000 into $70,000.

Christine has been a longtime FLIP supporter and volunteer for several years. Christine and Tim shared, “We have dreams: Kids will learn to swim, have a lifetime skill, and be safe in the water. All of us will have a place to meet and enjoy healthy recreation together, year-round. Those of us who need the therapy of warm-water exercise will find it. Our professionals and volunteers who conduct water rescue will have local training. That’s what we want for all Islanders. Before moving to Lopez, we went to the Y for an early-morning swim – let’s have that opportunity again! There is no better time to do it than now. It is on our list to stretch and help get construction started this year. Please join us!”

Supporters can give online at www.lopezislandpool.org/donate.

The FLIP Board is so thankful to Tim and Christine for this wonderful gift and to all FLIP donors for their steadfast support of this critically important project!
