Wednesday market going on now

Carole Anderson’s Magic Islands body and beauty products and jewelry, Gypsy Mellonie Eckerson’s Willow Catering, and Willow Eckerson’s Blue Willow Designs were three vendors who set up booths at the first of the midweek markets on July 22. The market hopes to attract between six and eight vendors to the space behind Orcas Online on Prune Alley in coming weeks.

The market hopes to attract between six and eight vendors to the space behind Orcas Online on Prune Alley in coming weeks.

Mellonie believes the slow turnout of customers and vendors this week was partly due to nearly all of the colorful and artistic market posters being taken as souvenirs.

The regular Wednesday market, with booth space available for $5, will be from 2 to 6 p.m. throughout the summer months.

“With the economy the way it is, we wanted to create an inexpensive extra venue, a relaxed afternoon market, for artists, crafters and farmers to be able to sell their wares,” Mellonie said.
