New Culinary Creativity Endeavor

Long-time Orcas Islanders Bob and Liz Lamson and family have recently launched a new San Juan Islands-focused enterprise, Attivo Culinary, LLC.

Attivo (www.attivoculinary.com) is an eCommerce distribution business hoping to help build national recognition and markets for quality small-batch food and ingredient producers from the San Juan Islands and nearby regions. Girl Meets Dirt, Local Goods, Island Thyme, San Juan Sea Salts, La Conner Tea, Vashon Coffee Dust and Fairhaven Mill are examples. These natural products are complemented by specialty kitchen tools and equipment, several from high-quality European sources, along with several exceptional spices and culinary products from Mexico.

Attivo Culinary’s mission is to encourage home cooks as well as commercial customers to begin to emphasize nutritionally oriented, small batch, often family-produced foods and ingredients in their meal preparations. By being also a source of quality kitchen tools and advanced kitchen electrics, the company’s “Attivo Bundles” are designed to facilitate ease of accomplishing particular culinary delights in everyday food lives. Sales and marketing is initially e-commerce based but will be followed in 2023 by offline distribution to discerning specialty kitchen retailers nationwide.

Aiding in its objectives, Attivo benefits from the support and creativity of a growing national network of “ambassador” chefs and uniquely creative food service entrepreneurs featured on the website. Bob Lamson himself, head of one of the two families owning Beach Haven Resort on Orcas, is known for his previous leadership involving the introduction of several revolutionary “firsts” in small kitchen appliances — Juiceman, Breadman, SousVide Supreme and Vesta Precision.

Lamson notes that Attivo’s priority markets are US/Canada. However, for some particularly unique products even Europe, Asia and Mexico/Latin America also may become significant markets. Future company plans include own-branded Attivo Culinary specialty foods and ingredients, many featuring creations from the company’s chef ambassadors. A company store and perhaps an accompanying café somewhere in the San Juans or Skagit county is also a possibility.

Between now and the end of the year all purchases on the website receive a welcoming 10% discount.
