Ecotour company opens in Eastsound

Submitted by Davina Liberty.

The islands welcome “Orcas Enchanted,” a new ecotour company operating out of Brandt’s Landing Marina on Orcas Island by Captain and Marine Naturalist, Davina Liberty.

“Liberty,” as she prefers to be called, grew up in the San Juan Islands, ultimately graduating from Anacortes High School and continuing her education throughout the states of Washington and California earning multiple degrees and certifications in Veterinary Sciences and Biology.

“Orcas Enchanted” will offer water taxi services throughout the San Juan Islands, including daily service to Sucia Island, kayak excursions, and private charters. They are also introducing what is called the “Orcas Only” tour, which features the mammal-eating ecotype of Orca whale, known as “Biggs” or “Transient” killer whales and the sentinel actions that protect them.

Liberty joins her dedicated crew to begin management of the first woman-owned, woman-operated whale-watching company in the San Juan Islands. Tours can be booked at http://www.orcasenchanted.com.
