In September, the island-wide Crossroads Lecture Series will begin its third season at the Orcas Center.
Speakers include Ellis Goldberg presenting “Getting it Right: Israel, Palestine, and the Obama Administration” on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
James McGaugh will speak on “Memory and Emotion: The Making of Lasting Memories” on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.
“Health Care Reform: Questions and Consequences” will be presented by Barbara Safriet on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Organizer Diane Berreth said, “Thanks to an initial seed grant from the Francis Bacon Foundation, Crossroads has succeeded in presenting a series of thoughtful, provocative speakers who have helped the Orcas community to think about timely issues, both local and global.”
Tickets will be available from Darvill’s for $10 per lecture. Tickets to all seven events will be available for $60. Complimentary tickets are available for those unable to afford them by signing up at the Senior Center two weeks prior to each lecture.
An Associates’ pass is available for $250 and includes tickets to all lectures and additional benefits such as special events with the speakers.
“We are focused on creating an on-going, high-quality lecture series,” said Berreth.
