After going 1-1 against Mount Vernon Christian, in a double-header on March 16, the Vikings baseball team prepared to face the Coupeville Wolves the following week on March 23rd for their second double-header of the season. Orcas and Coupeville had a long battle back and forth throughout the first half of game one but fell short when the Wolves took a big lead, resulting in a loss for the Vikings of 8-16.

Game two was where the underclassmen got to shine. The final score ended up being 1-19, in the Wolves’ favor, but left a lot of room for the younger players to learn and improve.

The same week the Vikings traveled to La Conner on March 26 and then headed back home for their last home games of the year on March 27 against Friday Harbor in another double-header.

The Vikings will be on the road this week for their final week of the 2021 baseball season with Mount Vernon Christian on April 2 and Friday Harbor on April 3.

With a very short season for the Vikings softball team, Orcas prepared for their final week of the 2021 season after facing Coupeville on March 13.

On March 23, the Vikings welcomed the Coupeville Wolves to their home field for a double-header, making this the first home game for Orcas Island High School Softball since 2019.

The Vikings started off strong in the first couple innings of game one, with some big bats. Unfortunately, the game did not end in the Vikings’ favor with a final score of 4-16. Orcas fought until the end in game two, but the game was cut to six innings, due to light, leaving the final score as 6-11 with the Wolves taking the victory.

The same week, the Vikings traveled to face La Conner, on March 26. They then turned around the next day, March 27, and played their last home games, as well as the last games of the season, against Friday Harbor in a double-header.

With golf being a very COVID-friendly sport, many new players have joined the roster, trying to find a way to be outside and find a new hobby or sport to enjoy.

The Orcas Golf team had two off-island matches last week. One taking place on March 22, where the team headed to Cedarcrest, followed by a match against Lummi on March 25. They then faced Friday Harbor on March 29.
