Doe Bay Open Mic donates $250

The Orcas Senior Center thanks Doe Bay Open Mic Night on Thursdays for a donation of $250. One dollar from each entree served during the show went to benefit Orcas Senior Center. Colorful and unique table tents for the event were created in the “Art with Carla” classes offered at the center every Friday. To benefit Orcas Senior Center, the Madrona Bar and Grill is offering one dollar off every dessert served during the month of June. The senior center thanks both of these generous purveyors of culinary delight. If you would like to be a contributing restaurant in support of the center, contact Vicki O’Keefe at 360-376-7723.

CPR training on June 26

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a lifesaving technique useful in many emergencies, including a heart attack or near drowning, in which someone’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped. The American Heart Association recommends that everyone — untrained bystanders and medical personnel alike — begin CPR with chest compressions.

Alan Stameisen of Orcas Fire and Rescue will conduct a free CPR training at the Orcas Senior Center on Wednesday, June 26, from 1-3 p.m. Learn how to give your fellow humans the best care in the event of a cardiac arrest and other emergency scenarios. Call Orcas Senior Center at 360-376-7723 or stop by and sign up at the front desk.
