The U.S. Department of the Interior agencies (Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) invite the public to participate in two upcoming events in the San Juan Islands on Wednesday, Nov. 2:

Public Meeting with the Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior, David J. Hayes on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from noon to 1 p.m. at the San Juan Island Grange at 152 N. 1st St., Friday Harbor. Deputy Secretary Hayes will hold the meeting as part of Interior’s ongoing efforts to support locally driven conservation initiatives, including those that protect America’s Great Outdoors.

“Please join us to discuss conservation priorities in the region, including the proposed San Juan Islands National Conservation Area,” organizers say.

San Juans Conservation Partnership Public Lands “One-Stop Shop” Roundtable on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 1:30-3 p.m. at the San Juan Island Grange, 152 N. 1st St., Friday Harbor and 5:30-7 p.m. at Woodmen Hall at 4202 Fisherman’s Bay Rd. on Lopez. As a follow-up to the August 2011 U.S. Department of the Interior Community Listening Session, the roundtable will explore options for an informational “one-stop shop” on recreation and visitation, conservation, and community stewardship on public lands in the San Juan Islands.
