Marjorie L. Bradley

Marjorie L. Bradley, known as Lucy to all her friends, passed away June 18, 2011 in Bend, Ore. Born in Alameda, Calif., she spent her early years in the San Francisco East Bay where she married and raised her family.

A three-year adventure in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, starting in l964, was a precursor to her independent move to Orcas, where she was a long-time resident.

In 2008, her family took her under their wings and she spent her final years with her daughter in Bend. She was pre-deceased by Benjamin “Bud,” her husband of 58 years. She is survived by her daughter, Renee Welchman as well as her sons Michael, David and Keith. Family also includes sisters Virginia and Barbara, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucy took great delight in her friends on Orcas, gardening and her craft work, including but not limited to quilting and weaving. She was truly a free spirit whose soul is now free to soar in the great beyond.

A memorial was held on July 16 at The Boardwalk.
