The Orcas Island Film festival is right around the corner with a brand new line up of exciting new films from around the world. The festival dates are Oct. 7th-10th and ticket will go on sale Sept. 15.

Last May, there were three grants of $3,500 awarded to up and coming filmmakers to make a short film that must be shot in the San Juan Islands.

The following scripts received the grants: “Aproximada” by Kyle Carver and Dan Larson, “Yoga for Salvador” by Stefan Hajek and “Storm of the Century” by Micah Kearney and Kenji Tekada- Dill.

Out of these three films one will be chosen as the festival favorite and the award winning film will be featured at the Seattle International Film Festival next spring. These films will be put up on the Orcas Island festival website for viewing and voting beginning Sept. 15.

“We have some fun, upcoming events in Sept. so stay tuned,” says festival co-producer Donna Laslo.”
