Duke and Duff race for commissioner

Incumbent Clyde Duke will face challenger Henry “Duff” Andrews in the November election for SJC Fire Protection District #2 Commissioner.

Ballots for the primary election were most recently counted on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 2:51 p.m. Duke garnered 737 votes, or 49.83 percent. Henry “Duff” Andrews collected 501 votes, or 33.87 percent. Jonathan Loop picked up 16.29 percent of the votes with 241.

Voter turnout was 41.56 percent.

The 30 remaining ballots will be counted on Monday, Aug. 24 at 4 p.m.

“The final results will not be posted until the Canvass Board certifies the election, which will be September 2,” said San Juan County Elections Supervisor Doris Schaller.
