Late-night helicopter activity on Orcas is part of Colton Harris-Moore hunt

Sheriff Bill Cumming wouldn’t elaborate on the details, but the recent late-night helicopter activity on Orcas Island is part of the ongoing investigation to find serial burglar Colton Harris-Moore.

“As part of the investigation, we are utilizing outside resources when looking carefully at possible activity,” he said. “It has not been confirmed that any of the tips have been Colton.”

Cumming wouldn’t specify what kind of helicopter or equipment is being used.

He thanked the community for being the police department’s “eyes and ears.”

“We appreciate the community’s response in giving us calls,” he said. “We are trying to follow every lead.”
