Orcas Christian School women’s basketball team moved to second in the NW1B League, improving their record to 2-1 with a convincing 71-20 victory over the Lummi Blackhawks.

Orcas Christian School women’s basketball team moved to second in the NW1B League, improving their record to 2-1 with a convincing 71-20 victory over the Lummi Blackhawks.

Scorers in the game were Maddy Hance (26), Eve Hance (22), Caitlin Fowler (8), Alaena Comrie (6), Alenna Garcia (4), Maelle Comrie (3) and Emily Toombs (2).  The women’s team also played Lopez but fell 58-45.

The men’s basketball team went 1-1 with a dominant 84-36 win over Lopez, followed by a convincing 67-23 loss against Lummi the following night.

“Lummi may very well be the best team in the state, together with Tulalip Heritage, whom we will play six-plus times this year,” said Coach Tim Hance. “It’s a great opportunity for our men to play against the best, which, with hard work, persistence, winning attitude and dedication, will make us get better quickly.”

The next home games are on Dec. 18 against Highland Christian (women only, 3:15 p.m.) and Dec. 19 against Grace Academy (women 1 p.m., men 2:30 p.m.)
