The Orcas Island Booster Club, along with partners at Orcas Island Park and Rec and The Orcas Island School District Athletic Department, announced the start of our second year working with the Positive Coaching Alliance Program on Orcas.

To kick off our second year, we will be hosting two trainings on August 12th and 13th (Friday and Saturday).

Friday’s training will be for all current and prospective coaches and will be a discussion concerning developing competitors and empowering leadership for all participants. The seminar will kick-off at the Fire Hall with dinner at 5:00, with the training starting at 5:30. We invite EVERY coach at all ages to attend this presentation.

Saturday’s training is for Coaches AND Athletes and will be a fully interactive training to help teach leadership skills and help define what makes a “good leader”. We invite all athletes from grades 7-12 to participate. Coaches are invited to come as “interested observers” and watch leadership in action. Training will take place at the upper field behind the High School at 5:00pm.

As we move forward into our second year with the PCA, we look forward to offering more learning experiences and the ability to offer more programing opportunities to the coaches, parents and athletes in our community. To RSVP to either of the trainings or to receive information about our local initiative, please contact Kim ihlenfeldt (Orcas Park and Rec), Vicki Vandermay (OISD Athletics) or Justin Paulsen (Orcas Island Booster Club).
