Three Orcas high school softball players were selected for all-state teams out of Washington state’s class 2-B division.

“It’s really cool to see those girls recognized like that,” said coach Scott Harris. “These are some of the elite teams in the state; it’s some amazing company that our girls are in. The first team is just a powerhouse.”

Senior Alison O’Toole was chosen as a first team outfielder for her second year in a row, and Junior Lindsay Anderson was selected as catcher. Senior Lanie Padbury was chosen for infield on the second team; last year she received all-state honorable mention. Only nine players were chosen for each team.

Adna, Pe Ell and Mossyrock teams were heavily represented on the all-state roster.

Anderson suffered a torn ACL while rounding the bases this May, and did not play in the all-state game. After undergoing surgery, she is on the mend, but will be in rehab through the fall.

“The sad thing is she’ll miss her senior season of volleyball,” said Harris. “That’s a real tragedy.” Anderson expects to be back in the batter’s box for the spring softball season.

The three players have provided invaluable leadership and determination, helping the softball team place fifth/sixth at state championships the past two years.
