Martial arts class hosts belt promotion ceremony

Cameron Smart’s children martial arts class held a belt promotion ceremony on Feb. 15, wherein he and several of his students tested for and earned the next belt in their progression. Smart was awarded his level two black belt from Sensei Chuck Silva, who began teaching Smart martial arts when he was in fourth grade. There are 10 levels of black belts to be earned.

Smart teaches two classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Children ages 5 to 13 can attend class from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and adults (ages 14 and older) can attend class starting at 5 p.m. A class costs $10 for the hour, and trainings are held at the Odd Fellows Hall.
