Lobos breakthrough in two tournaments

The Lopez Lobos traveled to LaConner on April 16 where Emily PostvanderBurg carded a personal best of 48 to be named the girls’ medalist. Randi Ritchie posted at 50 and Lisa Vaughn came in with a 55. “Lily Ewert and Tammora Nedorocik are improving fast, and they, and Helen O’Brien and Sydney Hoffman, will hopefully shoot qualifying scores for the District tournament in the next three matches.”

On the boys’ team, Colton Jardine shot a personal best of 48, Noah Dretske carded a 49 and Kevin Dengler shot a 53.

Thursday, April 17 the Lobos hosted Grace Academy at the Lopez Golf Course and both the girls’ and boys’ teams won theor matches by a sizeable margin.

Dengler dropped 10 strokes from his personal best to shoot a 40 and was named the boys’ medalist. Jordan Smith shot a 45, Alex Cook scored a 49, Dretske brought in 52 and Jardine carded a 53 in the Lobos’ win.

Ritchie was the girls’ medalist with another breakthrough score of 43. PostvanderBurg carded a 51 and Vaughn shot a 54 in the Lady Lobos victory.

“Working with the club pro is really starting to improve our game,” said Têtu. “We are starting to peak just as the post-season play is about to start.”
