Gregg Sasan enters his fifth year as head coach of Lady Viking basketball and has the peace of mind of a full squad of motivated athletes. As expected, Sasan is still having a great time coaching, which is evident in the commitment and attitude of his players.

“We were pretty young last season so this year I have six returning seniors, which adds a lot of stability to the team,” he said. “We have 12 skilled freshmen moving up from the middle school program, which is doing a great job preparing players for high school ball. Overall we have about 25 players and no one has quit yet, so that’s exciting. They love basketball, practicing and being together and some of the freshmen are really stepping up.”

Sasan said they will be facing some “good teams” in their league: La Conner, Concrete, Friday Harbor and Darrington.

“Shoreline Christian has dropped out of the Northwest 1A/2B League but the other adversaries remain the same,” he said. “Our goal is to earn a playoff spot at the end of the season. The girls know what to expect from me and I think this group of players has a lot of potential.”
