It was a great week for the Lobos volleyball team, who racked up two solid wins against league players on Sept. 29 and Oct. 2. The Lobos, who are tied for first place in league play against North Sound Christian, beat Grace in a four game match. The Lobos showed poise and perseverance against Grace Academy, beating them 25-22 Lopez, 25-23 Grace, 25-18 Lopez, 25-19, Lopez, Lopez winning overall 3-1.

“I was impressed with Grace. They have improved dramatically and they were not the team I expected,” coach Mellonnie Altona said.

And later that week, the freshmen players came out and bookmarked the three sets of games, playing in the first and third games primarily. Lopez beat Highland Christian Knights 25-22 Lopez, 25-18 Lopez, 25-21, Lopez.

“I loved seeing the bench players’ confidence at the beginning and the end. It was just wonderful. I am very proud of them,” coach Mellonnie Altona commented.

The Lobos volleyball team plays on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 1:45 p.m. against Orcas on Lopez. Then the Volleybal team travels to Mt. Vernon this weekend, Oct. 10 for a volleyball tournament against non-league teams.
