Fall youth soccer

The youth soccer season begins Sept. 2 at 3:30. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for children aged seven to 12 and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for children aged five and six. Registration forms are available at the school office, the public library, and the Orcas Rec. Program office (located in the Senior Center). Children aged seven to 12 will play at Buck Park and those ages five and six will play behind the elementary school. Games will be on Saturday mornings beginning Sept. 13. The last game will be on Oct. 25. More information is available at www.orcasrec.org.

Youth soccer coaches and refs. needed

The Orcas Rec. Program needs coaches, assistant coaches, and referees to make the soccer program a success. Those interested will be matched with a knowledgeable coach and given videos to watch and drills to read. Call 376-5339 for more information.

Cleats and shinguards swap and sale

Soccer players may bring cleats and shinguards to trade or donate at the first few Fall Youth Soccer Program practices. Those who have extra cleats, shinguards, or soccer balls, are encouraged to bring them by the practice or drop them off at the Orcas Rec. office to be distributed to other families.

After school program

Every Wednesday throughout the year, public school elementary school students are out of school at 1 p.m. Orcas Island Rec. will provide a multi-age After School Program at the elementary school from 1 to 3 p.m. Children will enjoy art projects, imaginative play, outside and inside fun, Legos, games, and more while interacting with others in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. The cost is $7 a week. Partial and full scholarships are available. Registration forms are available at school and soon at www.orcasrec.org.
