Richard Tetu, Lopez’s golf team coach, reported on his teams’ Tri-District performance, saying, “For the ladies, lots of good news. Randi Ritchie proved her leadership and did her best ever with an eighth place, Emily PostvanderBurg broke the spell and finally qualified for State, and Sydney Hoffman shot 14 less on the back nine to snatch the last state berth. Lisa Vaughn managed to earn the second alternate berth, even though she is also trying for State track. Thanks to the other two players’ performance, Adayla Buchanan and Helen O’Brien, the ladies outscored Bear Creek and earned second place.”

Lopez men came in eighth, with 29 team points. Tetu said, “The gentlemen tried their darnedest, but the lack of playing time may have caught up with some of them. Also, it was the first time at district for four of the six, so I am pretty proud of their ability to keep up. Let’s hope they have a happier day on Tuesday with the League Championship.” Team members include seniors Jordan Smith and Noah Dretske, juniors Kevin Dengler and Josh Cook, and sophomore Colton Jardine.
