Everett Earl “Bud” McKee | Passages

Everett Earl “Bud” McKee was born May 31, 1931 in Longview Washington to Everett A. “Spike” McKee and Emma Hellberg McKee. Bud grew up in Longview and graduated from RA Long High school in 1950.

Bud married Donna R. Eubanks on August 1, 1953. That same year he was drafted into the army and served in the 77th Special Forces as a radio operator. Bud and Donna just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. They have three children, Shawn, Philip and David.

After his honorable discharge from the army Bud attended the University of Washington where he obtained parallel Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering.

Bud began working at Boeing in 1957 and worked there until his retirement in 1993. One highlight of his job was that it provided him the opportunity to travel to many foreign destinations.

As well as travel, Bud enjoyed outdoor activities. He especially loved to fish and hunt. He also liked to hike, camp, ski and climb. Bud could always be found in Walla Walla for opening day of pheasant season with one of his many hunting dogs.

Bud and Donna moved to Orcas Island after his retirement and lived there for 20 years. Orcas was a perfect place for Bud to share the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. On Orcas Island he joined the International Kiwanis Club and enjoyed participating in their community activities.

Bud passed away in Mount Vernon, Washington on August 7, 2019.

He is survived by his wife Donna, their children and their families: his daughter Shawn and her children, Nic and Julia, his son Philip and his wife Sandra and their children, Lea and her husband Jake, Erin, Sam, Anna and Liam, his son David and his wife Kelly and their children Zac, Aiden, Ben, Savanna and Ashlyn. Bud is also survived by his younger sister Margaret M. Dorsey.
