Stanley Williams

Dr. Stanley Paul Williams, aged 72, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 as a result of cardiac arrest, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Wash.

He is survived by his son Royce Paul Williams, grand-daughter Alia Williams, mother Angie Williams, sister Judy Lewis, and brothers Robert, Kenneth, James and Timothy Williams.

Dr. Stan Williams was born on October 15, 1938 in Colville, Wash. to Angie and Elmer Williams.

He graduated from Marcus High School at 16. His medical training included the University of Washington, the University of Kentucky Medical School and Montefiore Hospital in New York.

Stanley also served in Vietnam as a medical doctor.

For 38 years, Orcas Island was his home and where he practiced medicine. For many years, he was the only doctor on the island. He was loved and revered by adults and children alike.

A memorial service for Stanley will be held at the Orcas Senior Center on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m.
