Margaret McCann | 1919 – 2019

1919 – 2019

Margaret Isabelle McCann, 99, of Eastsound, slipped away in the early hours to be with Our Heavenly Father, on Monday, November 11, 2019 at her residence, with her daughter by her side. Her grandchildren, great grands and great, great grands providentially visited her the day before to wish her in advance of her 100th birthday, not realizing the visit would become a farewell visit as well.

Margaret was born on December 12, 1919, the daughter of Murray and Lena (Senders) Marshall, in Albany, Oregon. She moved to the state of Washington when she was approx. 10 years old, and later attended Queen Anne High School.

Margaret worked for Boeing Company in their accounting department while she also maintained her bookkeeping and tax preparation business. She explored the real estate business for a short interim as well. Everyone who knew her, loved her. Margaret had a great sense of humor; found the good in all and always had a smile on her no matter what the circumstances she found herself in. She even had a smile on her face, when passed peacefully. Margaret lived her faith day in, and day out never staying idle.

Margaret was a member of AMES, Eastern Star, and was a past Grand Royal Matron of Amaranth. She belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she volunteered in getting jobs for the unemployed and helping individuals get fresh starts in their lives. Margaret offered her services at the Senior Center in Olympia & Shelton volunteering at their Coffee & Donuts booth. She also was a volunteer for tax preparation for AARP. In her younger days, she was a Brownie Leader, a Girl Scout Leader, and was a lifeguard at their camp. She also found time to be a Toastmistress for several years.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Albert. She is survived by her children: Daniel Nixon and Adele Pinneo; grandchildren: Mike, Linda Brad and Shiobhan; great-grandchildren: Joshua, Sarah, Katie, Jackson, Stefanie, Rachel, Jessica, Hillary, Grant, Hailey, Alexa and Adam; great, great-grandchildren: Tyson, Colin, Ronin, Lily, Ryan, Nathan and Gavin.

A Memorial Service will be held at a future date which will be announced at the Evans Funeral Chapel website.
