Orcas Island Yacht Club Commodore Dianne Wilson Jordan passed away in her East Sound home on August 15, 2017. The cause of death was cancer of the heart.

Dianne was born on September 5, 1940 in Crockett, Texas. She was an only child but had a loving extended family of cousins and aunts. When she was three, the family moved to Angleton, Texas. Dianne attended Angleton High School, where she excelled as a student, athlete, and was named “Miss Angleton High” in 1958.

Dianne was a graduate of the University of Texas and a true Longhorn. She resided in Austin for 45 years, where she was the founding partner of Wilson and Goldrick, a real estate firm that grew to over 35 agents. She retired in 1998.

She was married for 33 years to Richard. They first came to Orcas in the 1990s to escape the hot Texas summers. In 2003, Dianne and Richard moved to East Sound, where Dianne enjoyed her home, garden, and friends. She was a master gardener and was very active in the Orcas Island Garden Club, where she was honored as one of the very few life members.

She was a member of the Orcas Island Yacht Club, where she is currently the Commodore. Dianne was a strong supporter of the arts and music on the island and the Orcas Center.

Dianne is survived by her husband Richard; stepdaughter Linda; son-in-law Stephen Willard; her three grandchildren, Stephen, John Talbott and Julia; and numerous cousins

Because of her uplifting and vibrant personality, Dianne had a family and many friends who adored her.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Annex.
