Sheriff’s Office has no further leads in gunshot wound case

A case involving an Orcas Island man who sustained a gunshot wound has been closed for the time being.

“We believe it was self-inflicted, but do not have enough evidence to prove that,” said San Juan County Sheriff Ron Krebs. “We also don’t have any evidence to prove that he was shot by someone else. We do not believe the public is in any danger.”

On Feb. 18 at 9:19 a.m., a man drove himself to the Eastsound Fire Station with a single gunshot wound to his chest. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was in serious but stable condition. He has since fully recovered.
