School bond looking grim; fire commission increases members | Update

After another ballot count on Feb. 15, the $8 million Orcas School District bond is still just shy of being approved in the Feb. 14 special election. A count of the final 50 ballots will be performed on Feb. 16 at 5 p.m.

The bond requires a super majority and 59.36 percent voted yes while 40.64 percent voted no. It is losing by 14 votes.

The San Juan County Fire Protection District #2 proposition to increase the number of commissioners from three to five was approved: 70.23 voted yes while 29.77 rejected the measure.
