Orcas teen pleads not guilty to sexual assault

David Pacasum, 18, of Orcas Island, who was charged with three counts of rape of a child in the first degree and one count of child molestation in the first degree in the San Juan County Superior Court on Nov. 19, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Dec. 2.

Pacasum is being represented by Friday Harbor Defense Attorney Colleen Kenimond. The omnibus is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Jan. 6, 2020; the readiness hearing is at 9:30 a.m., Feb. 10; the pretrial conference is at 9:30 a.m., Feb. 24; and the trial begins at 9 a.m. on Feb. 25. The trial is expected to last seven days.

According to court documents, as a juvenile Pacasum was convicted of criminal trespass in the first degree and possession of stolen property in the third degree, both gross misdemeanors, on Oct. 7 of this year in the San Juan County Superior Court.
