A structural beam from the fallen towers of 9/11 has found its forever home at the Eastsound Fire Station on Orcas Island. A dedication ceremony was held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Eastsound Fire Station.

This past May, artist Robin Lassen finished a mural in the station lobby.

The floor-to-ceiling painting is done in the deep rich hues of sunrise and pays homage to the men and women who sped to the scene of one of America’s most horrific tragedies.
