There are a lot of changes for Medicare insurance holders this year. Kaiser is leaving. Premera is coming with two new plans. Everyone who had Kaiser has guaranteed eligibility to buy a Medigap plan if they wish. Drug plan premiums, deductibles and copays are changing.
How do you figure out what to do? Statewide Heath Insurance Benefits Advisors can help Medicare enrollees navigate these changes and figure out what to do. There will be a public presentation on this year’s Medicare options Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. in the Orcas Senior Center where the new plans will be described. SHIBA volunteers will be at the library from 1 – 4 p.m. each Friday during open enrollment (except the day after Thanksgiving) to help people review their drug coverage to see if they should make changes for 2020. No appointment is necessary.
Individual private counseling sessions are also available M-F during open enrollment. Call the local SHIBA office at 360-376-5892 to schedule an appointment.
