Missing meds, bizarre behavior, nasty neighbors | San Juan County Sheriff’s Log

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

Sept. 4

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of an unwanted person on the caller’s property. The caller asked that the subject be removed from the property. Since the person in question could not be found, follow up is required.

• A deputy was dispatched to a report of trespassing in Friday Harbor. The suspect was cited and released for 1st-degree trespassing.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a man urinating in public and arrested him for 1st-degree trespassing.

• A Lopez deputy stopped a motorist in the 1400 block of Fisherman Bay Road after he saw him speeding near Lopez Village. The deputy issued the driver a speeding ticket.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to unknown trouble in the Eastsound area and took a report.

Sept. 5

• A citizen turned in found property in Friday Harbor. The item was later booked into the evidence room until the owner claims it.

• San Juan deputies were dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance in the Friday Harbor area. The disturbance appeared to be verbal only and the parties separated. A report was taken.

Sept. 6

• An Orcas deputy conducted a traffic stop in Eastsound and issued the driver a speeding citation for traveling 30 mph in a 20 mph zone.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of harassment. The incident was investigated and a report was generated.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a citation for speeding 41 mph in a 20 mph zone.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for having a broken tail light and an expired registration. The driver was issued a citation for having an expired registration of more than two months.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a citation for speeding, 43 mph in a 20 mph zone.

• A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Orcas and issued the driver a warning for speeding.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a warning for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign.

• A deputy on Orcas was asked to check on a person who was displaying some bizarre behaviors. The person was gone by the time the deputy got there. The deputy checked the area but was unable to find the person.

• A deputy on Orcas Island conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a citation for speeding, 53 mph in a 40 mph zone, for not having a valid driver’s license with valid identification and for operating a vehicle without insurance.

Sept. 7

• A Lopez resident requested assistance with euthanizing a gravely ill horse.

• A Lopez deputy stopped a motorist for speeding in the 1400 block of Fisherman Bay Road and issued the driver a speeding ticket.

• A deputy who saw a woman driving too fast in the 1800 block of Fisherman Bay Road on Lopez issued her a speeding ticket.

Sept. 8

• A deputy who responded to a citizen dispute involving a couple in the Roche Harbor area separated the two parties and filed a report.

• Deputies on Orcas responded to assist a ranger at Moran State Park with an unconscious person in a vehicle.

• A San Juan deputy saw a juvenile sitting on a bench in Friday Harbor in the early morning hours. After further investigation, the deputy found that the juvenile was unable to contact their parents and gave the young person a courtesy transport home.

• A deputy conducted a traffic stop near Eastsound. The driver was given a warning for speed and a citation for not wearing their seat belt properly.

• An Orcas deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle on Mt. Baker Road for speeding. The driver was subsequently issued a citation for driving 58 mph in a 35 mph zone.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a warning for speeding.

• Another speeding driver on Orcas was stopped and issued a warning.

• An Orcas deputy stopped a driver on Orcas who received a warning for having an expired registration.

Sept. 10

• A deputy in Friday Harbor issued a driver citations for not having a driver’s license on their person and failing to secure a load. The driver also received warnings for speeding and for not having the registration in the vehicle.

• A deputy was dispatched to a report of missing medication in Friday Harbor and took a report.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a citation for speeding, 73 mph in a 40 mph zone.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a citizen dispute. The reporting person stated a neighbor came to his home and verbally assaulted his spouse. He requested the neighbor be removed from their property. The offending person was served a trespass letter.

• A deputy responded to a report of two people smoking marijuana in a vehicle on Orcas. The report proved to be unfounded.
