Membership drive at Orcas Senior Center

Submitted by the Orcas Senior Center.

The Orcas Senior Center is excited to announce two new membership levels that will become available starting July 1.

With the introduction of these two new levels, our standard membership benefits will not change. It will continue to offer all of the benefits that you have grown to love, including discounted access to the Orcas Athletic Club, exclusive 10 percent discount at Ray’s Pharmacy, member-only rates for classes and workshops, discounts for many other programs and events, and new this year, one free small drip coffee on Mondays at Orcas Island Market.

Starting July 1, you will have two new options: a Prime and a Gold Premier membership level. They are intended to bring growth and diversity to our nonprofit program. With a Prime or Gold Premier membership, there is no additional fee for taking part in certain activities such as chair yoga and strength training, and you will enjoy a reduced cost for special programs such as balance class. With both memberships, use of the Athletic Club pass will be free.

The Gold Premier level brings additional vitality and sustainability to our nonprofit program. You get all of the benefits of the prime membership plus you will pay no transportation cost for off-island trips with no limit to the number of trips you take. Room rentals will also be free, with additional benefits to be announced. Most importantly, a tax-deductible portion of the membership funds from this level will support seniors in need. All three membership levels will give you a discount on tickets to the HeArt of Orcas art auction on Aug. 25.

Tell your friends! As part of our membership drive this year, we are hoping to increase the number of new members (anyone whose membership has expired more than six months ago). Both new members and referring current members will be entered into a drawing for great prizes, including a $100 gift certificate for the Inn at Ship Bay. This popular Orcas destination showcases fresh, local foods served in the historic farmhouse originally homesteaded by Michael Adams in the late 1860s.

Other prizes include two gift certificates for a year’s subscription to the Islands’ Sounder (a $45 value), a $50 gift certificate at Darvill’s Bookstore and a $20 gift certificate to Art of the Salish Sea.
