Orcas Fire responds to blaze in Printshop

Orcas Island Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire at Printshop Northwest in Eastsound at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6. The fire was reported to dispatch by employees of the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce office located next door.

The red building in the Eastsound Square houses Printshop and Monkey Puzzle, both of which were empty at the time of the blaze.

First crews on scene reported finding an active fire, with smoke and flames coming from the window of the Printshop. A rapid response and knockdown prevented the fire from spreading to the adjoining businesses. Fire Chief Scott Williams reports there were no injuries and there was no one currently in the business at the time of the fire. According to Fire Marshal Arjae Meyers, the incident is under investigation but the cause does not appear to be suspicious.
