County artists exhibit at SJIMA

Submitted by San Juan Islands Museum of Art

Talent and imagination describe the art in the Sixth Annual Artists’ Registry Show at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art. The show in Friday Harbor proudly exhibits artists’ work from all our islands.

More than 70 artists present their best pieces for the exhibition featuring painting, sculpture, textiles, jewelry, photography, glass, pastels, ceramics, prints and multi-media and more. The show has enough to dazzle, no matter what subject or style one prefers.

The Registry was started as a resource for artists to connect as a community, and to have a place to exhibit their work in a professional, elegant gallery-style atmosphere.

The show opens Saturday, Feb. 2 and runs until Monday, March 25. The hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday through Monday.

On Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, SJIMA is celebrating the Artists’ Registry official opening and the fourth anniversary in this building. On that day, SJIMA is holding a party from 4-8 p.m. and everyone is invited free of charge.

Malinda Dreyer, an artist herself, is sponsoring the diverse exhibition.

Also showing is Traces by Mary Coss. Her installation, made in part with wedding dresses speaks to culture, family and memories. The public can see this sculpture until June 3.

Admission is $10 and free to members and those 18 and younger. Mondays are “Pay As You Can” days. More information can be found at https://sjima.org/.
