July 3, 2009 · Updated 10:32 PM
County officials delivered three-minute reports on issues, goals and future actions for Eastsound in an outdoor assembly at the Village Green on July 2, as part of the Eastsound Planning Review Committee.
Speakers included Lance Evans of the Chamber of Commerce, Charly Robinson from the Orcas Farmers Market, Colin Maycock from the San Juan County Community Development and Planning Department and 17 other speakers. Issues included the sign ordinance, street vending ordinance and Madrona Point, among many other topics.
At the conclusion of the two-hour meeting, the Eastsound Design Review Committee gave “Good Development Awards,” for those whose new buildings had taken into consideration the character of Eastsound and movement through the village.
The Design Awards went to the San Juan County Public Works Department for the sidewalks that were installed on North Beach Road and Main Street, those involved in planning and building the Stage on the Green, John and Joannie Trumbull for the design of Rose’s Bakery and Café, and Clayton and Trina Olsen’s new liquor store building.
The next EPRC meeting will be the first Thursday in August and will address the EPRC’s position on the Country Corner LAMIRD. In September, the Streetscape plan will be on the agenda, October’s meetings will discuss Housing and the November meeting will address the usage of the Mount Property in Eastsound and storm water concerns.
