OPALCO members on Orcas, Canoe and Shaw Islands were without power Saturday morning when a distribution wire failed in the Fowler's Pond area on Orcas. This event triggered the transmission lines to shut down, in order to protect the whole system. OPALCO crews had power restored to all service areas by early afternoon. The repair is complete and OPALCO plans to make upgrades to the equipment in that location to prevent future problems.
