The San Juan County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the theft of a Cessna S-182 from the Port of Orcas two weeks ago.

“We are waiting for the results from the physical investigation of the plane,” said Sheriff Bill Cumming. “We are still in the process of looking at potential people that may be responsible for this.”

The Sherriff’s Department asks that anyone who may have been in the area between Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 11 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. and saw anything, even if they are not sure of its informational value, contact the Sheriff’s Department.

According to officials this is the first time a plane has ever been stolen from the Port of Orcas. The single-engine aircraft was discovered around 11 a.m. on the morning of Nov. 12 in the closed area of the Yakima Nation reservation in eastern Washington. The Yakima Tribal Police are investigating the crime from their end as well but did not return calls inquiring on the status of their investigation.
