New dog park opens by airport
August 13, 2008 · Updated 12:36 PM
The Eastsound Off-Leash Dog Park has moved. Jeff Hanson, Chair of the Park Committee, says that, thanks to the generosity of the Port of Orcas, a multitude of donors and Ezra Richardson construction, the new Off-Leash Area is now open next to the Port of Orcas Day Park at the corner of North Beach and Mt. Baker Roads.
Additional improvements, including a shelter, are planned and a celebration will be held in the fall to thank the donors. The Off-Leash area is a place for adult, non-aggressive dogs to exercise and socialize with one another. It is run by volunteers and all of the users care for the park by picking up dog waste, providing water and keeping the area clean.
